How to raise W126 for subframe mounts?
Hello all..
I have an '86 300SDL and will be changing subframe and mounts this weekend.
How do I properly jack up the car to do these? I really don't want to lift at the differential and put jack stands under the rubber jacking pads on the sides of the car.. My thought is that the jack stands would get in the way of me trying to change the subframe mounts.
Can I jack up one side of the car and put jack stands under the front jack pad and slightly behind the rear one? Would this cause any problems with popping out/reinstalling the subframe mount since one side of the car is on the ground?
How did everyone jack up their car to change these?
Neal
PS. I have the differential mount out of the car.. how do I remove the "nuts on a metal strip" from the frame so I can put in the new ones? One end has a tiny tab and the other end has a huge tab.. do I pull on the large tab??
