Our 1998 E300 did the 0-60 dash in the low 8's, and the 606 3.0L turbo engine was down on both HP and torque compared to the 3.2L in that wagon. The E300 was nearly as quick as the more powerful E320 thanks to "grunt."
Remember, those foot-pounds rival an aspro E55!
