Once you have the switch apart you need to clean out the accumulated muck and them your *must* polish all the contacts, the pins down inside the switch are easy to polish with Q-Tips and cream typ metal polish .

Never, EVER use sandpaper etc. to clean electrical contacts ! .

For the switches to work properly all contacts must be shiny yellow color in spite of the pits etc. .
