The indy shop would have an oscilloscope already, ask them to probe it.
Also go over the wiring harness connections to the ECU and all pins and compare it to the factory diagram, on my old E300 the idle pinouts to the control module were messed and it would idle at 1100 rpm all the time.
The wiring was packaged perfectly original and nice with updated delphi part no. Once I corrected the wrong pins the idle was rock steady at 650 rpm.
