A previous owner installed a Febi fan bracket (stamped "Made in Germany") which failed in 4 years / 40kmi. Photo attached. Depends how often you want to repeat this job. I replaced it with OE/dealer and never had a problem since.

Also - if you do not apply anaerobic sealant on the bolt threads during installation as specified in the FSM (
click here), you WILL have an oil leak. The "pro" shop that installed the Febi did not use sealant and it was leaking oil (easy to tell, the bolt threads will be coated with engine oil). The oil leak was cured when I installed the new bracket with correct sealant on the bolts.
