on my 82 300D the mounts were easy to get in, with patience.

just line up the mount the way it came out, and using a block of wood or the old mount, Jack up the car so the weight of the car is pushing down on the mount. Go get a Coke or something, read the comics and come back to see that the mount has been pushed in. You'll need to use a lot of lubricant, something like soapy water which isn't bad for rubber.
