This is an example where having the actual code # and a _detailed_ description of the code is critical in diagnosing a problem.

If the sensor has failed electrically, the code should be something like " wheel speed sensor , open circuit " ABS systems look for continuity of the circuit as part of the start up self test.

A sub fault of above can be " intermittent open circuit " due to a failing wire

If the sensor isn't being triggered due to a mechanical fault, the code should be something like " no wheel speed signal "

A sub fault of above could be " wheel speed implausible " due to some teeth being lost on the tone wheel.
