OM617 Timing Chain Replacement, removed the old chain completely

Hi guys, I have a quick questions. I am performing a partial overhaul on my OM617 Engine and I just reinstalled the crankshaft today. The next step is to install the timing chain but my haynes manual only explains how to install a new timing chain if you still have the old one installed (using the method of rolling the new chain in using the old chain. I cannot do this because I need to remove the crankshaft completely for my rebuild.

I did a little research but could not really find any info on installing a new cam chain with the old one removed.

Does any one know the procedure for this or possible a link to better shop manual than the haynes manual I have?

My instinct is to just line up TDC at the crankshaft and cam shaft and install the chain without the tensioner installed, but since this is a very important step I would really like a proper manual to follow along with.

Thanks
