Concerning damaging the crankshaft (which I am questioning) what I remember reading is that members who have had their crank damper come loose on the shaft (it did not come off) have had the dowel holes elongated and the dowel pins ruined.

They were able to re-drill the dowel pin holes oversize to match fatter dowel pins they got from the dealer.

When you get the dowel pins from the dealer they are longer then needed and have to be cut off and ground flush.

I think there is 2 threads on that but from back in 2008-2010.
