It has been proven many times throughout history that you cannot legislate morality or religion . Some choices are to be made only by the individual without deference to the social consequences threatened . Marijuana was once classified as a schedule 1 drug because of lack of knowledge - equal to opium ,morphine and cocaine . Drug hystaria and misinformation led the federal government to miss - classify marijuana as something way more powerful and mind altering than it was .
