The captain is right. Perhaps I should have said waiting in a line to place an order.

Personally I do not like fast food places. We still use then though when in a hurry. On frequent trips we take. It seems to me they built far too many at a time when the demand was there. At least in the regional orbit we travel a lot in.

There seems to have been a serious decline in their business. We stopped for fish and chips at a place last week. It was just getting into lunch hour and only three tables had people eating. Including us. Out of perhaps fifty tables. This place was busy five years ago.

We do not tip at fast food places where you get your order on a tray. Bill was 31.00 for the two of us. Most fast food franchises in our region are now almost constantly experimenting in an attempt to attract more business.

As I mentioned in the first post. There almost always was a lineup a few years ago. To get your order placed at the counter or at the drive through. In the vast majority of cases. Currently this is not the case.

Of concern is this fast food segment of the economy overall today. Is possibly the largest single commercial employer of people in our overall society. Regionally the employers are now taking advantage of the programs. Where they hire a new immigrant with limited English on assisted wage incentives.. To cut costs. This approach is really recent here but noticeable in our region.

If you want to go back in time twenty or more years. Our region of Canada is a good area to do it in. This region of Canada has seen very little immigration. Almost none in fact until the last year or so.

The government will financially encourage immigrants not to go to the large cities now. I for one wonder if that will work as there are no established cultural groups for them here.

So I think they will still soon gravitate to the larger cities after they get into the country. The pressure on housing and the infustructure being created by the immigration is becoming a really serious problem. In Canada's larger cities.
