Squirrels are not a problem here. So I am unsure of the right bait. When I first used a live trap. It did not seem to work that well. Over time I got better results.

Since peanut butter is derived from nuts. I might give that a try for squirrels.

On normal mouse type traps. I bait them and wind some thin thread around the bait. No chance of them not triggering the trap then if they take the bait.
