Have him show u the damage..... or explain how he determined the the timing chain is broke then bring what he say's back to here.

Sounds like someone "may be" wanting to make some big buks off you for a job uneeded. Heck...... Ive heard mechanics claim something like this.. then fix what ever little problem the 4x4 caused then charge u also for parts and labor for fixing a timing chain he never touched.

A second opinioun might be advisable too.
