Not sure about the M110 specifically, but in period most exhaust manifolds had a very light gray high heat paint on them. It didn't hold up long and rust spots started appearing quickly.

Fred, the M112/113 exhaust manifolds actually have a stainless steel jacket to aid in keeping the exhaust gases hot on a cold start. The reason is to warm the catalysts falser for emission reasons.
