I'll tell you what though, music can be a harsh mistress. I'm inconsistant as hell, I don't get it. Sometimes I knock 'em dead, other times after I sing two lines I realize I don't have it that night and wish I could just stop, apologize and get out of there. But that would be weird so I keep torturing myself.
The muse. The muse does WTF it wants.
And as for making money ... a very few make major money and half of them go nuts with it. I've known a few guys who were quite talented but struggled like hell to make a living with it. One of them sorta famous, but never learned a trade, always on the edge.
