In the process of restoring my w124, on a rainy day I decided it was time to repair the rear map pockets that over the years have been stretched out

And it only cost me $8 for both sides
Start by removing the seat back(this will cover the w124 so some steps might be different in this part)
-remove the two lower screws located about 3 inches from each side
Next using a trim removal tool(or a flat head but maybe put some duct tape on the blade side to prevent damage the to seat) and pull the side wrap in material
Once both sides are put the back will fall out
At home depot(or really anywhere) pick up a bag for 12 inch bungee cord with toggle ball and fender washers that the inside diameter are the same size
On the bungee, push the ball onwards and untie knot
Now going to the seat back, remove the two screws holding the net casing on
Pull this slightly away from the seat back and remove the old bungee
Next slowly drill a hole the size for the cord about about 10mm up from the screw hold
Feed the new cord in the hole, though the grove on the casing and reinstall the casing screw
Next slip a washer on the cord, tie a not and remove the extra cord( on your first side try and remove as little material as possible)
Next weave the cord though the netting
Next drill a hole on this side identical to the other, slip the core though this hole and tuck it in to the grove of the net casing
Reinstall the back screw
Pull cord snug but not to tight, slip washer over and tie, cut off extra cord
And reinstall ( put bottom screws in, tuck in your leather/MBtex)
All together for both sides it cost me less then $8, and I have enough stuff to do another few sets
