Many here are comfortably middle class and simply don't get it .

I like you, am Blue Collar to my bones and damn proud of it .

I'm hanging on here, just paid a few bills this morning and have to wait for my next check to arrive because I'm $2,000 + in the red and don't want to bounce any checks .

I no longer smoke, buy beer etc. to make sure I can live within my means .

I grew up that way and was not unhappy with it. It taught me how to do things that I would not have other wise learnt. The wife as well. We try to live by similar values of that time. It kind of puts us out of the current time and typical behaviors.

We as a couple always examine value and quality for the money. We remain very self reliant. Personally at our ages I think it is what keeps us going. Money beyond that does not seem to mean that much. It is generally considered to be in bad taste here to show wealth anyways.

If we were living pension cheques to pension cheques I do not think it would change anything. Except we would qualify for many things. That we pay for. So in our case what is the difference of having money and not?

Not really much. We are both very astute buyers though.
