I replace mine last year and it was $42-$45. Not cheap but not unreasonable. I did not get it from a Mercedes dealer.

I don't consider that cheap but some of the parts are reaching that point of no longer being manufactured so I decided to replace mine. And sure enough the plastic ball was had partially fallen apart although the shaft had not yet pulled out of it.
