ok as a follow up, the black cross bar that the cable is attached to must pull straight back, although I am a little unclear where either the second cable is or how the roof returns closed, cables are better at pulling than pushing aren't they... anyway the cross bar does move back slightly but I can't push it back enough to move the roof backwards. There must be a lock up front... I am sure that is the culprit (until someone tells me that there is no latch up front) the culprit must be a defective latch up front which seized. The motor turned so hard pulling that it bent the gold clip? cant move the roof back can only push the back down on one side at a time.
How do you remove unlatch mysterious lock or latch in the front of the roof which I believe both exists and is jammed.
Questions still remain, how where do you manually operate from the trunk without an owners manual and tool kit.
As to getting the fabric cover off of the bottom of the roof it was easy, took a flat head pushed it in between the fabric and metal and used the screwdriver as a lever to pry the two apart. This came from a search under 190 sunroof.
