Thank you, H-townbenzoboy! Very interesting. The photo does look like the bottom of my tank, (not as dirty as mine, however). I see a curved fixed metal pipe coming down from the left recess in the photo where my hose is. It appeared to me that my hose when right up to the tank, which is why I believed it was threaded in, but I may well be wrong. We're going to get pelted with rain tomorrow, so I'll get a picture as soon as I can get under the car and post it.
