I have just gotten a 1988 300SE that has been setting for much over a year. Removed the old gas and installed a new fuel pump. It starts good - runs a minute or so, then floods out - overloading and cutting the engine off. Black smoke is coming from the tail pipe, which gets "red" hot. Have checked the fuel lines. Help!! Doc.

March 2004 Still haven't solved problem. Please help. I want to get this car on the road.
