Everything I read points to B2 as well. My only saving grace is that they say the w126 is the only chassis where it is relatively easy to swap out with trans installed. I’ll give it a test run on the smoked out trans out of the car first.
Seems it died due to a febi filter, the epoxy surrounding the element failed and allowed dirty fluid to bypass the filter

Unfortunately you cannot check if the length of the thrust piece/Dob Bone is correct by removing the B2 Piston.
When you remove the B2 piston and or the Cover fluid is going to come out.
The lip seal that is inside after you pull the B2 piston out has a lip that is supposed to face out wards. And you should see a white plastic/nylon bushing behind the seal.
