Based on your description, probably not. Euro cars in the US pose interesting diagnosis problems, particularly if you don't know what was done to get the car registered in the US, ie. what part of the engine systems were changed. For instance, the Euro 16V had a different fuel pump relay that had a higher RPM cutoff than the US version.
If the O2 sensor was operational in your engine and was now disconnected, the fuel injection system would likely run extremely rich and you'd likely have some very wet plugs.
