If the trans is from a 300SD, it uses an electronic speedo. The only w123 that has this setup is a 1981 300TD. They also did not have tachs, so you may be in luck. Pull the cluster and take a look on the backside.

Pics?
Oh ok I may be lucky then. Because the title says the wagon is 1981!! So your saying if it is the stock speedo that it should be plug and play with the 300sd tranny?

Is there an easy way to install a tach I would like to have one. I know you can hardwire it to the alternator or something and I can do the research on how to do that. I'm most just asking if there is a plug and play way to do it with the 300sd engine and getting a taxh from another cluster?

EDIT: I bought the car the day before I went on vacation (I'm on the vacation right now) so I'll get pics of everything when I get back and be able to poke around and give more updates to the thread.

It would be nice to confirm it is a 300sd engine and trans and etc.
