Hi,
I'm restoring my Great Grandfather's 280SE (1971 2.8 6cyl) and the fuel pump has some rusty congealed gasoline built up in there. My mechanic has removed the base plate which seems easy enough to clean, however we can't get the engine inside spinning when connecting power.
I understand my few options are:
1. Try to clean it up better and get it running. To that end —*does any one have any advice on cleaning it up to get it spinning again?
2. Order a rebuilt one... The damage: $900
3. Find a conversion kit. ************** makes one, however it's only for the 3.5 and 4.5 engines. I'm wondering if anyone here has created a conversion? Or could point me in the right direction to assemble something similar?

Much appreciation.
