Apparently you can convert an OM617 powered car easily using the (incorrect) OM616 flywheel .

I saw a 240 with 4 speed still in place at a Pick n Pull maybe 15 years ago. I was thinking somebody somewhere would probably want it. Wasn't aware of Craigslist alert threads at the time. I had my 300SD, didn't really have the means to install it. Seems like a pretty big job.
Re that Jag with the Chevy drivetrain - I could find that acceptable on a trashed XJS but on a Mark 2, I dunno. If it was seriously on its last legs, sounds like that's the way you saw it, and with bad engine and tranny, I imagine sourcing the correct Jag items would be tough and spendy.
