Came home a few weeks ago and the house was too warm. Main A/C was having problems. Shut the system down and started it up later. Everything was fine for about 10 minutes and then I could smell overheating motor.
Called the installer (6 year old system) on Monday and the lady is taking my info and then she say "we will be out there on FRIDAY." All I could say was "OK."
Thought about it that night and figured I had a week to fix it myself and if I screwed it up too much they would show up on Friday to fix it anyway.
Long story short, pulled out the blower motor, took it down to an A/C parts store and reinstalled myself. Was pretty easy and I saved a good $300-$400.
The best part was calling the repair company back and telling them I had fixed it myself!
