I was either 13 or 14 years old and my dad took me to a CHP auction. He was looking for a car to pull a trailer with. One of the cars had a big cardboard sign on the windshield that said "Rod Knock". Well he started it up and I saw that one of the two torque bars was loose and banging the fender at idle. (These run from the intake manifold to the fenders) Well anyway he bid a few bucks over minimum bid for a as is car and got it. The funny part is not only was the car real cheap and it had 30,000 less miles since it was retired from service early.
