Try turning the engine by hand. It may be locked up. If not, dump some Startron into the tank, check the oil and find out whether it will start. Or get some clean fuel in a can like doing a diesel purge then start it. You might be surprised.

It's worth $500 not running because there is no way to test things like trans etc. The list goes on.

Why the limited DIY time? and you could just keep it since it won't bring much in its current condition. I've used that excuse before. It works well.
