You won't sell it unless you can demonstrate it running, so install a battery. You can buy a used one cheap at junk yards. Some people might buy it just for the engine to swap into a 4WD. That is how I got a 1983 300D which the owner just needed removed after taking the engine. Running, in presentable condition, I see 1980's 300D and 300SD around me asking $2500 on craigslist and has been that way for 2 decades. I doubt they will ever gain classic value like a 1960's muscle car.
