Totally trashed tranny, it ran 2000 miles with no oil. The tail shaft with the tranny in neutral doesn't spin the main shaft, so the gears in the oil are stationary.

Lack of oil will eat the bearings, and possibly also some of the gear teeth. Not worth fixing, especially if there is another one available in good shape.
