Hi Jay!

I've said this before but I'll say it again: I believe a change occurred when MB switched from CIS-E III to CIS-E V in 1990 on the W124s. The end result of that change being that the resistor mod doesn't give the same desirable result that it gives on the pre-90. At the time I made my statement it was just a theory of mine, but now that I have a generation "V" W124 myself, and after having pulled it's resistor, I can say with a little more confidence that "V" generation cars don't seem to like having their resistors removed. I still remain convinced that all pre-90 "III" generation W124s love it though. My two pre-90 W124s certainly do!

Regards,
Eric
I know the reason for the M104.980 beeing not happy for removing the timing ignition plug on the EZL ignition module. If this is done. The ignition will be set back/retarded by 2 degrees at full throttle. This is described in the Mercedes books.
But what you can do are setting a resistor equal to non kat cars that will give it more power as it's more agresive setup to 98 octane instead of the 95 octane as the cat versions uses.
[emoji41] I know the thread is old. But I found this update valuable [emoji16][emoji1360]
