Both my 190E and 500SEL have sump guards or belly pans fitted and both are made of 3/8" boiler plate. The 190 is a Middle East Spec. car and as far as I can make out the 500 is Japanese spec. They have both proved extremely useful and have saved my hide a few times over the speed bumps the size of camel's humps we have fitted around town. I recently had to find a new one for the 500 and it cost about $112 from the dealers. Having them fitted means changing the oil topside but this is no grief really. Obviously, all these pans are a different part numbers and your local agent should be able to help out here......
