A ticking noise after replacing the spark plugs is more likely an electric arcing noise than a mechanical one. Check for loose plug wires (with the car off), cracked plug ceramics.

Look at the engine at night with it running to possibly see the arcing. Be careful, secondary ignition voltage can jump farther than you realize to shock you.
