I always liked just upgrading what I needed to.

Also, PCs came to the office in DOS 3.2, so I always kept up at home.

Popping the case, adding some memory, a better video card when gaming, etc., one bit at a time. Not doable in a Mac, as I recall. Plus, cheaper for more power, and I already had a world of experience and many programs.

But a major processor and MB upgrade also usually calls for better memory chips, even if my case, power supply, video and wifi cards, and solid state drives are still up to snuff.

It just pisses me off that fully functioning hardware is all of a sudden zombieware.
