Intelligent Engineering
Only a German engineer would think of a 2 piece turbo drain tube where the top half fits over the outside of the bottom half sealed by an "O" ring in such a way that when the "O" ring leaks the oil drains down the outside of the lower half and builds upon the top of the lower pan, then onto the ground. Common sense would dictate putting the top inside of the bottom and then if it leaks it is still contained.
In 604,000 miles, my 83 300SD has needed the turbo seals replaced 7 times since I bought it in April 1983. I keep threatening to redesigning it but never seem to have the time. All 617.951 an 617.952 engines will leak there sooner or later.
