Post a picture if possible as I don't have that model to look at. 1/2" is actually better than 13mm if you can get the 1/2" all the way on the nut. 1/2" is .012" smaller than 13mm. Six point is always better than twelve point when working with nuts that may round off.

Do the exposed threads on the stud look damaged?
