Depends I guess. In general I would look at the cylinders of the engine I pulled the head off of. At least first. No evidence of steam cleaning or other strange abnormalities.
I would perhaps skip a pressure check. The later heads have no where the cracking issues the original ones did to start with. Now if one is going to have work done on the aquired head. With todays machine shop costs involved it should be checked.
If the cost in a persons world of many things is of no consequence makes decisions easier as well.
