Well I left the chassis manual at home and can't do this job. Nevertheless the procedure can NOT be what was in the book, because the '87 has an airbag and it wasn't clear with a quick look how to remove that.
Anyone with a clue how to get the horn switch, airbag and steering wheel off. Or better yet as Larry suggests there may be a better way. I've got one more day of vacation. Thanks,
