It depends on the CD player ~ the first generation ones vibration skipped like crazy, none of the twenty year old ones in my vehicles now skip, not ever .

Once in a while a CD will stutter, this is because the CD is dirty or scratched .

This is easy to rectify, I buy a LOT of used CD's for $1 ~ $5, about 10% of them have finger prints of scratches, why they're for sale, I clean them then polish with plastic polish and the proper paper and they play like new again .

I know blue tooth and like that is supposedly easier but a CD doesn't wear out if you take care of it .
