You are scaring us if W123 cars are now a dry-hole in Southern CA junkyards. That is where maybe 30% of them were sold, like tripping over a Tesla there today.

I haven't needed to check our local yards in Sacramento in over a year, but little need now since a guy on craigslist gave away a 1983 300D, "just tow it" which I did with my tow-bar. No engine, glass, doors, or seats, but I stripped everything else and stored, plus slowly selling off extra parts (Shern here got the fuel tank & sender cheap). Mainly got it for the hood and left fender to replace the ones on my 1985 300D my daughter crashed. Paint was new and beautiful on the 1983 so I'll paint the rest of the car that color. The scrap metal about paid for the trailer to haul the hulk there.
