I built a new 300d shell with all the parts from the wrecked one. It was a part out I bought for 250$ and it was a rusty pile of garbage. First race it was Illl handling due to wasted lower control arm bushings and I got 4th after being punted into the wall with 20 to go and my sights on 3rd. Took out the fan and rad, bent the frame knocked the toe out bad. Just made it to the finish. It started really getting hot with 5 to go. Nuked it real good and blew the head gasket. So after that race I replaced the head gasket and all was(seemed) good so I went about straightening the frame and repairing the rub rails. Test drive it the day before the race and the headgasket went away again. Retorqued the head an extra 45° and it helped but still had some exhaust coming out of the cooling system. The car was still running perfectly fine and making power so I reengineered the cooling system with a second pressure tank up higher and on the left in the rear package shelf with a heater pump pushing any water back to the front and all the exhaust leaving the rad cap back there. It worked like a charm and only needed an occasional off throttle to burp the exhaust out of the head cooling jacket. I put in consistent laps and hammered whoever I needed to to pull off a second place running the 2nd 50 laps on a flat left front. I call it a victory! Here's the highlight reel.
