I have to wonder if this was just a clever manipulation? Some time yet until I decide.
We also have such a spread in income levels today. Many do not feel or care about the cost of energy. I kind of cared myself when diesel was over 10.00 a gallon in eastern Canada. Just not about us as we have an open expense account with a government department.
For the average guy raising a family I just felt they were being unreasonably hit.
Were their income levels going to increase to cover the new and ongoing increasing costs overall? In my historical experience probably not fast enough. Only advantage of being eighty years old. Usually you have seen things before.
Our daily drivers are just utilty devices to us. My only real consideration is cost per mile of ownership. Currently until we disconnect from one income stream that is a positive amount. We bill 86.4 cents a mile. No short trips and plus our time. Over ninety percent highway.

My service company runs diesel trucks… I average 20mpg thereabouts, so I charge .50/ mile, to cover fuel costs… it is a burden everyone will be paying… the dip is nice, best price I’ve paid recently is 4.47/ga…
