I wish I knew this bump thing but it's far too late now, I like my little dogs and will continue with them .
What I feel about the skull difference. Applies specifically or primarily to mostly larger dogs. That could do real damage. With a bite.

I would exclude small dogs. It is proven that dogs hugely evolved with time.

Back around the 14th or 12th century. It may even have been as early as the 10th. It is believed all dogs where about the same. Proof probably exists.

They seem to evolve so fast. I am old now and cannot remember if they were in general any different in my youth.

An oddity to me in my lifetime. I remember the average dog existed on table scraps. Where that is fairly unusual today I believe. As i was thinking about that. It also occured in general we do not generate much in the way of table scraps these days. So why years ago? By intent? Was food that cheap?

When I was young some old goats like me ate cat food though. At todays prices for cat food that option is gone as well. Fortunatly now reduced to a humorous expression. Well at least hopefully.

I gave a newer neighbor a loaf of the wives home made bread. Give your dog a slice first I suggested. Remember what does not kill you makes you stronger.

My suspicion is even during the evolution that has occurred since. There remains some differences. Even in evolutionary separate types of dogs.

Was it Pavlov experimenting in Russia. While being punished that worked many of these things out?

My definition of a small dog is an ankle biter. They fit a different ability profile usually.

Humans have evolved as well. Dogs with their much shorter life spams possibly at a 7 times faster rate. Of course I do not know yet it is possible the evolution of the dog has been and possibly continues to be faster than most other animals.

I do not feel the prognosis of any child that is aggressive towards dogs is very good. Most dogs sense this type of child. Well before the child proves it.

From ancient times their survival skills still exist to some extent. It makes them leery of any child that does not want to befriend them. They usually will avoid that type of child. Time over the ages has totally reduced many functions in some dogs. Never them all I suspect.

Actually a good dog can tell you a lot about any child by just observing the dogs reaction to them. As soon as you learn to interpret their body language.

Not that hard for the majority of it. Some things a little harder though. Took me sometime to disseminate what our large dogs version of giving me the middle finger was for example.

i also tend to suspect that dogs recognize younger versions of the human specis. As less complex versions of us.
