I think I tried that on fronts, but for some reason it didn't work. Maybe the shape of the caps. Where is the end of the hard line once you undo the upper union nut? Does the cap fit up above the bracket? Or can you push it on from below?

By the way, I am just procrastinating. Lousy day here and don't really want to head out and work on car
