The U.S. government finally put an end to the interment of Japanese Americans on December 18, 1944. I remember one Japanese American saying, (my paraphrase) We were forced to rise every day at 5:00 AM, forced to stand in formation facing towards the barb wire fences. We were then told to receit the Pledge of Allegiance as we faced the barbwire fencing keeping us interred saying the words "with liberty and justice for all".
