If you live in California and are due to renew your drivers license (Class C license) here is some helpful information:

Using the DMV website (dmv.ca.gov) complete the application for license renewal on line and pay the $41 renewal fee on line.

Sign up for the DMV Virtual Test Center. Complete the 45 minute tutorial covering driving laws in California. The tutorial includes several quizzes about the laws. Once you have completed the tutorial and taken the quizzes, you have completed the knowledge test required for license renewal. Your test completion will automatically be included in your application. The Virtual Test Center is good for 12 months so you have 12 months to complete the tutorial and knowledge test. After 12 months if you are not completed you will need to file a new application and pay a new renewal fee.

Schedule an appointment at your local DMV office and bring a copy of the email confirming your completed application with confirmation that you have completed the knowledge test. Bring proof of identification (valid U.S. passport, social security card, etc.) and a utility bill confirming you are a resident of California.

Take the vision test, have a new picture taken and be fingerprinted. You are done. The DMV will also mark your new license VETERAN, if you are a veteran.

You will not need to take a written test because your have completed the knowledge test on line.
