The center stud will probably help the situation by keeping everything thing in the "ballpark".

This isn't in the book but from the busted knuckle bachelors program... although you shouldn't have to, don't hesitate to oblong the hole in the manifold with a rattail file OR put a stud and nut like the center bolt to facilitate the install. The stud and nut could remain forever.
