My understanding is that lane splitting became legal in California with the implied understanding that it was only to be used in stop and go traffic. Air cooled engines can be damaged with too much low speed/no speed idling. Moving between parked cars at 10 miles an hour is really not too dangerous. But it’s way too common around here at speed. Every now and then you see a video of some bike, a handlebar clipping one car and then bouncing back-and-forth between the two cars they are between. I’m amazed it doesn’t happen more often.
