Thank you for your advice, I made an appointment with a neighboring garage who will do the diagnosis for me, they will do it for me for free but here in France the price of a diagnosis is generally between €40 and €80.

For 9 years I have been taking my C-Class to Mercedes but it cost me €10,000, so now I will do it myself or in my small local garage which is much cheaper, and my car is still 16 years old .

I will report on my progress in finding a heating fault, it may be useful to another person one day.

But I wouldn't want to declare victory too quickly, what's next after May 21, 2024, meeting day at the garage.
